Hi,
Our last meeting was out of this world. Congratulations to Amya Lowery our newest junior engineer. Welcome Amya. Everyone is collaborating and problem solving. These are fine junior engineers that I would gladly work with again. Visualizing centimeters was a hard concept. Four square cm's is not very big is it? Those of you who bought balloons and blew them up, what conclusion was reached on a way to preserve them? Thanks Diana for the demo of the drop. We still have lots to do. A suggestion was made to add one more prep day before the final drop. Presently we are scheduled for Wednesday only. I would like to hear from everyone on this. I will send home invitations to the drop this week.
Don't forget to post to all comments and ask questions.

Update and Question
Hi Fellow Martians,
I was so impressed with the work everyone was doing today. Learning to use Google Spreadsheet is wonderful. Every team worked together and brainstormed ways to build their lander. I am loving working with these talented individuals. Pictures coming soon. See question below and respond.
Considering your knowledge of the project to date, evaluate your contributions to date. Do you think it is important to explore outer space? Why or Why not?

Congratulations!
Congratulations to all who have been selected to be members of the first NASA Junior Engineering class in Grier Middle School’s Mars Lander Egg Drop program. Our academic team is thoroughly excited to begin this voyage with you. We are confident you are equally anticipating the project as well. Our first meeting will be Friday at 8:00 in Ms. Sanders room. Your teacher will dismiss you to come to my classroom for a short meeting. No need to bring anything except yourself.
We will begin on Wednesday May 1st. at 8:10 in Ms. Sanders room. During the first week we will be learning about many science, technology, engineering, and math concepts. You will be brainstorming, designing, and constructing during class. In the meantime you may go to NASA for kids to learn more about space exploration and the Mars mission.
Our competition will take place on May 24th at 1:00PM. Students and families will be notified of the Mars Lander Egg Drop ceremony at a later date.
Again, we look forward to providing you with a challenging and rewarding educational experience. Please free free to email me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Sanders Chris Goodson
